FAQs
Where’s your store?
126 N. Genesee St. in downtown Waukegan.
What are your hours?
Saturdays noon to 7, Sundays noon to 5, and Wednesday nights from 6 to 9. Also Friday nights if we have a really awesome show scheduled.
Where can we park?
There’s metered street parking up and down Genesee St. (but don’t worry about the meters after 6 or on Sundays). If street parking is full, there are also three pay lots within a block or two.
Do you buy used records?
Yes! If you have records you’d like to sell, let’s set up a time and place to check out what you’ve got.
Do you stock new records?
Yes, we have new records and new reissues along with our extensive vintage selection.
Do you buy and sell CDs?
Yes, please! (And thank you!)
Do you buy and sell cassettes or 8-tracks?
No, right now we’re concentrating on vinyl and CDs.
Do you accept returns?
Yes. We want you to love your records. If they sound like crap, we’ll take ‘em back.
That said … just imagine all the rec rooms, dorm rooms, basements and other places where people may have enjoyed your records over the last 40-50 years.
We inspect and clean every album before putting it out, but it’s always possible that we miss a flaw. We hope you’ll accept that they may not be perfect, and love them despite (or even because of) the occasional hiss or pop.

I’m interested in performing at WMX. What’s your booking process?
Basically you email us at waukeganmusicexchange@gmail.com and ask, “Hey, can we play at your space?” And we almost always say yes. As long as you’re not a flat-out covers artist, we’re happy to host almost any type of music—especially if you’re local.
Do you buy and sell records online?
We’re focused on selling and buying records and CDs in person. However, we’re happy to order hard-to-find items online for our in-person customers!
